Requirements for Main Camp
2019 camp takes place from Monday 6th July 9am ----- Thursday 9th July 4pm at Kernan's Equestrian Centre.
Please read the following carefully
What to bring for Main Camp
Minimum 2 pairs Jodhpurs Beige, Navy, Black
Change of cloths required for the evenings
Stock for Cross Country.
Gloves, whip, torch
Pony Club Sweatshirt, Pony Club T Shirt, Pony Club Tie, Back Protector, Hat, Boots- all clean.
Swim Suit, Cap & Goggles and towel
Camp bed/air mattress/mattress/quilts/sleeping bags/pillows
Tent, suitable for camping outdoors
Sun Screen/insect repellant
Toiletries/any relevant medication
Wash bag and towels
Any perpetual trophy won at camp last year.
A fold up/portable chair
All members sleeping at camp must be in a tent. No sleeping will be permitted in lorries, caravans or trailers.
Members must bring/supply their own tent, preferably organising sharing before camp begins,
Please note that on arrival, members should follow the instructions of adults in charge.
All members attending to provide buns/cakes on the first day - please note NO NUTS
***PASSPORT WITH UP TO DATE FLU VACCINATION***
NO PONIES ARE TO BE UNLOADED UNTIL PASSPORT HAS BEEN CHECKED AND YOU HAVE BEEN ADVISED WHERE TO PUT YOUR PONY.
Parents must not leave until all tents have been put up. There will be two adults directing where tents are to be located (in the dressage field as close as possible to the main building).
Parents/guardians must volunteer for either day or night duty and book in on the Pony Club mobile on 087-6820876.
A minimum of 4 adult volunteers are required on night duty, at least one of which must be male.
Day duty can be split into half days if necessary.
Volunteers are needed to transport children to the Aura swimming pool on Wednesday at 6.00 pm, returning to Ravensdale at 7.45 pm.
NO VOLUNTEERS, NO CAMP!
Ponies must be fit, main pulled and tail tidy
1 Tail Bandage Shod or trimmed feet
Hard Feed/Hay/Haylege(if stabled)/Haynets
1 Bridle – in good repair
1 Saddle – in good repair
Saddle stand if available
Stable rug/Outdoor rug (if required by your pony)
1 Head Collar & Rope
1 Fork 1 Shovel 1 Yard Brush (or share),Wheelbarrow (or share)
Please organise sharing before camp begins.
Even if you pony is being kept outdoors you will need some of this equipment to clean out standing areas used during the day.
Saddle, Soap & Cleaning Gear for Tack
Please have ALL ITEMS and CLOTHING clearly LABELLED.
*No Mobile Phones will be allowed during instruction and activities at camp. Members will be allowed to use their mobile phones at breaktimes and in the evenings and will be asked to hand mobile phones to adults in charge at 10pm each evening. Please label your mobile phone.
contact can be made through the DCs, Committee or Helpers on the day and we would ask Parents/Guardians to co-operate with this Rule.
*Please notify us, in advance, of any special DIETARY or MEDICAL requirements your child may have.
*Children are required to stay on site AT ALL TIMES unless accompanied by a Louth Hunt Pony Club Committee member, parent, guardian or other person nominated by one of the above. If for any reason a parent/guardian needs to collect his/her child, please make sure to notify a DC or DC’s representative and sign out child in Sign In/Sign Out book.
Sign In/Sign Out book is located in the entrance to the main indoor arena, beside vending machine.
Members who are not staying on site at night need to sign in each morning and sign out each evening.
*At the end of the camp ALL members will be required to clean up and leave Ravensdale Lodge in exactly the same condition as it was on arrival.
*For convenience and to cut down on cost, each family will be requested to take home a bag of rubbish and place in their own waste bin at home.
*Louth Hunt Pony Club Shop will be in attendance on Monday morning 3rd July.
*Swim in Aura Leisure Centre Dundalk on Wednesday 4th July at 6.15pm. We will be asking parents/guardians to provide transport to and from Aura
*On arrival, horseboxes to park at horsebox park (at lower end of arenas).
*ALL members will be expected to assist with the removal of horse droppings from the arenas. Removal of horse droppings from the arenas is policy at Ravensdale Lodge EC and needs to be complied with. There is equipment on site to facilitate this.
*Prize giving will take place after Tidy Up on Thursday at approximately 2.30pm. Parents/guardians are all invited to attend this.
*A €50 deposit has been paid and there is an updated online facility to pay the balance. Please go to the online entry page of the Louth Hunt Pony Club Website to do so.
*All catering except for cakes/buns will be organised by Toni Blake. Each evening Toni will present a menu from which a choice of meal for the following evening can be made. Please bring your own mug for hot drinks. We would ask parents/guardians to supply buns /cakes and bring them to camp on Monday. There will be lots of fresh fruit and bottles of water available on site.
N B: Social Media Usage
Louth Hunt Pony Club would like parents/guardians/members to be aware that children using the social media websites such as Instagram, Facebook and Snapchat can leave themselves vulnerable to inappropriate comments, messages, photos etc.
It is important to note that Instagram, Facebook and Snapchat require everyone to be at least 13 years of age before they can create an account.
It needs to be remembered that some children under the age of 13 can “follow” older children. This can lead to underage children witnessing inappropriate data on devices.
The Louth Hunt Pony Club is not in a position to monitor, control or deal with social media usage, so therefore we are asking you, parents and guardians, to advise your child about usage of same. Parents/guardians will be contacted if any social media issues arise and both parties (members and their parents/guardians) will be asked to personally resolve any issues of concern.
