2024 in Review
Once again, the year got off to another great start in 2024 with the annual children's hunt taking place at Lough Fea on 2nd January. As can be seen from the small selection of photographs below, a fantastic time was had by all the children who attended with their ponies showing all the signs of having been diligently scrubbed up and expertly turned out on the day. While the children enjoyed large quantities of treats, many adults also availed of the opportunity to walk off some of the Christmas excesses.

Dundalk show, June 2024
A selection of photos from Dundalk Show where many members of LHPC, Louth Hunt Club and our friends competed with great success! Lots of rosettes! The award for Queen of the show must go to Linzi who not only won her class but also won the overall award for Champion Show Horse of the show! A wonderful achievement on her beautiful grey mare, Rainie!
IPC Overlander National Minimus Championships held in Killossery in June
Mia with a fantastic xcountry round, followed by a great run and swim meant that her team of only three, finished a brilliant 11th out of 41 teams competing. What a result!
Fabulous day in Frankfort and both Mia and Elsa had great results. Elsa clear in both SJ and XC and has now qualified for the championships!
Mia had an unfortunate one down SJ and had a fabulous round XC on her young horse, both home safe, course completed and big smiles all round.
Fantastic day was had by the Alice Mernagh team in July at the IPC National Championships in Barnadown. They may be the youngest showjumping team in the club but they showed that they are also the mightiest! All four of them rode beautifully around a tricky course that was taking no prisoners on the day. We are very proud of their fabulous horsemanship, teamwork and great sense of fun. Well done everybody!
IPC International Tetrathlon Championships in Punchestown, July
Competing against national and international teams from as far away as Australia and New Zealand, Emma & Dara Ellie gave a great account of themselves representing Louth
The Area 7 qualifiers for the IPC Classic Individual Show Jumping Championships took place in the National Sports Centre in Blanchardstown in July with Maya qualifying in the 90cm class and Hannah qualifying in the 1m and 1m 10 classes. Both riders went on to represent LHPC in the national finals which were held in Coilog EC in September.
The IPC Classic Show Jumping National Finals took place at the Coilog Equestrian Centre in Kildare on 3rd September. With clear rounds proving to be very scarce on the day, Maya was extremely unlucky not to have made it into the 90cm jump off, having just a single pole down in the first round. In the following classes, Hannah came 4th in the 1m class and 9th in the 1m 10 class.
Also in September, Laura was successful in her H test.
Well done Laura.
Finally, in September, Ruby continued her recent winning form by taking gold at the Irish Pony Club Junior All Ireland Shoot final in Wilkinstown - terrific result.
Louth Hunt Hunter Trials were held in Tattersalls on 6th October with the event being supported by Louth Hunt Pony Club and many other clubs across the country. Fortunately, the weather played it's part and a challenging course set a stern test for riders on the day.
The Louth Hunt Pony Club Junior Hunt Ball was held at the Headfort Arms Hotel in Kells on 12th October this year. Young people came from branches across the entire country to enjoy themselves and a fantastic time was had by all as can be seen from the following photographs. A fantastic job was done by the organisers, Dara and Judy. Roll on 2025.
On 11th November, 7 members from Louth Hunt Pony Club and 1 member from the Ward Union Hunt Club successfully completed their C+ Test at Piperstown EC. Well done everyone.
Also on 11th November, 11 members successfully completed their Riding and Road Safety Test at Monasterboice Stables. Great work everyone.
