Hats: Only hats marked with: PAS 015 (with BSI Kitemark or SEI), EN 1384 (with BSI Kitemark or SEI) and ASTM F1163 (with SEI) are approved for Pony Club activities. These will be checked at all events. Old hats will not be up to standard. Buy a new hat from a reputable equestrian supplier who will ensure the fit is correct, snug but comfortable with very little movement. Crash helmets must be worn for cross-country riding. Hats must be worn with chinstrap correctly fastened at all times when mounted. If a hat suffers a severe blow then it should be discarded and replaced.
Body Protectors: These must be worn for all jumping (Show jumping and cross country). Many members are now in the habit of wearing them at all times, but they are not compulsory for flat work. Body Protectors should be Level 3 standard (purple label)
Tack: Please check all tack for safety, fit, and any sign of wear and tear regularly; paying particular attention to stitching and places where the leather is in regular contact with metal parts. Also please check the length of the girth – there should be at least three holes spare on each side, above and below the buckles. These are always checked at rallies before the ride starts. If any equipment is found to be faulty, worn out or ill fitting, the member may not be allowed to ride.
